Our Story
Peace 4 Peacekeepers was born from a moment of connection and an undeniable call to action. During a professional conference in West Virginia founder, Esther Amendola and Co-Founder Rhonda Henning met a veteran who shared his lived experiences. After the presentation, she offered a brief demonstration of Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help regulate his nervous system before he returned home. In that short session, he experienced meaningful relief from the emotional distress he had been carrying—revealing both the weight so many service members hold and the powerful impact of accessible, trauma-informed care.
That moment sparked a larger conversation about how many veterans, first responders, healthcare workers, and other frontline professionals carry similar burdens without access to effective healing resources. What began as reflection quickly became resolve: to build something accessible, sustainable, and dedicated to serving those who spend their lives serving others.
Later, the veteran shared a quote that had been echoing in his mind—George Orwell’s words: “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.” From that reflection came the name Peace 4 Peacekeepers, a reminder that those who protect our communities deserve peace in return.
Peace 4 Peacekeepers was formally established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to removing barriers to trauma-informed, evidence-based care—so those who stand watch for others can be supported in restoring, healing, and reclaiming peace for themselves.
